Bio Resource Management - Novel Amla Products

The Punjab State Council for Science and Technology has initiated a project for promoting cultivation and value addition through post harvest processing of bioresources in Shivalik belt of Punjab with the support of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The project focuses an optimum utilization of locally available plant based resources and their conservation coupled with scientific and socio-economic development of local community. Under this project, the Council has set up facilities for processing amla to produce various nutrient rich novel products.

AMLA – A WONDER FRUIT

Amla fruit is rich in vitamin C and pectin. Its daily intake as fresh or processed form decreases serum cholesterol, prevents indigestion, controls acidity, liver disorders, premature greying and hair loss, improves eyesight and purifies blood.
