14. Management of Anovulatory and Unexplained Infertility.
Family Welfare Programme of India as proposed by Government of India has two components :-
- Limiting the size of the family in fertile couples; and
-
Helping the infertile couples by way of investigating the cause of infertility and treatment of the cause to have the minimum desired children.
It is reported that approximately 10-15% of couples fail to conceive after one year of unprotected coitus. Under the project, various causes of infertility in Northern India have been investigated and the cases of anovulation and unexplained infertility (two major causes of infertility) have been followed-up in the project for further management.
The project has been completed and the study has suggested a streamlined approach for diagnosis and management of infertility factors under which various steps have been suggested for systematically diagnosing the various causes of infertility along with an appropriate treatment strategy. The findings of the project have been disseminated to various medical practioners of the region in workshop organized at PGI on 26.8.1995.
