2.2. INDUCTION FURNACES
The Cell has designed and demonstrated containment-cum-particulate removal system by using Scrubbing/ filtration technology. Following two pollution control systems have been devised for arresting fine particulate emissions:

Salient Features of Technology
-
Workable swiveling hood which rotates about its axis to serve both the crucibles.
-
Elliptical cut in the hood so as to enable charging of scrap & removal of slag.
-
Minimum number of bends with proper radius.
-
Fan (Heart of System) : Existing low pressure high volume replaced with high pressure fan capable of developing static pressure of about 14-16” WG.
-
Emission levels
- Before APCD …. 3000 mg/Nm3
- After APCD ….< 150 mg/Nm3
-
Efficiency of the system : 85 - 90%
Technology replicated in 25 units.
