5. Village Environment Improvement Scheme
PSCST had initiated this scheme for setting up six model villages in each district in which the following environmental components were being promoted:
- Promotion of low cost sanitation technology
- Promotion of Soak pits
- Improvement of village ponds
- Greening of Shamlats (Village common lands)
- Development of Phirni (circular road around the village)
- Composting of organic waste
- Any other activity w.r.t. protection/improvement of environment
The scheme was successfully implemented and has now being adopted by the Deptt. of Rural Development and Panchyats as Sunder Gram Scheme. Contact Person: Dr. Neelima Jerath, neelimajerath@pscst.com
