2003-2004 : Workshop on Integrating Environment Education in Technical & Vocational Education

The workshop was attended by two officers from UNESCO, Paris, seven nodal officers from participating countries and seven experts from French Ministry of Agriculture, Colombo Plan Staff College, Manila, GTZ, Centre for Environment Education, Ahmedabad, Central Institute for Vocational Education, Bhopal and Technical Teachers Training Institute, Chandigarh.

The existing structure of EE in each country, best practices and gaps in EE in TVE were discussed by country representatives. Experts shared their experiences on ‘Sustainable Development in Agriculture in France’, ‘CPSC’s experiences in Integrating EE in Technical Teacher Training Asia, Qualifications for environment competence in business and industry by GTZ. CEE & CIVE experts discussed the workbook jointly developed by them for Secondary Vocational schools in India for promoting EE.

The workshop recommended that an EE Information network be strengthened by strengthening existing infrastructure (eg. UNEVOC Centres) for easy access to and sharing of information. The need of developing new teaching/learning materials and establishment of resource centers for the purpose was also highlighted.
