3. Integrated Project for study of biodiversity in Shivalik region
PSCST has been instrumental in setting up a State Biodiversity Committee. The Committee has identified Shivalik area for detailed study of Biodiversity in Punjab. A project was taken up in collaboration with Zoological Survey of India, Botanical Survey of India, Indian Institute of Remote Sensing and Punjabi University, Patiala to study the Biodiversity in the Shivalik Area, enlist available flora & fauna, identify biodiversity rich pockets and list endemic & rare species. The project has been completed. The final report has been submitted to MoEF, GoI. IIRS is putting the report on the web under its Biocap Program. The report is also proposed to be printed so that it can be used as a baseline document in future studies.
