.5 Status of Environment Reporting Project for Punjab & Chandigarh
PSCST had
published a comprehensive Status of Environment Report in 1995.
Some other states in the country had also published their SoEs.
However, this exercise has been taken up on a sporadic basis only.
To streamline and systematize the SoE reporting system in India,
Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India initiated
a Project on State of Environment (SoE) Reporting during the 10th
plan period to bring out State of Environment Reports of all
states/U.T of the country on a regular basis. The Punjab State
Council for Science and Technology (PSCST) has been identified as
State Host Institute (SHI) for SoE, Punjab with The Energy
Resources Institute (TERI), New Delhi as the National Host
Institute (NHI).
The council is responsible for
-
Identification of issues of SoE each year
-
identification of core group for SoE preparation in the State/U.T.
-
Organization of State Steering Committee meetings from time to time.
-
Collection and collation of data w.r.t. SoEs
