3. Incentives to Young Scientists of Punjab
Govt of Punjab had sanctioned Rs.13.50 lacs to PSCST in 1998-99 for implementing the following schemes for providing incentives to young scientists of Punjab:

Travel Grant Scheme - This scheme provided partial travel grant to young scientists of Punjab to present papers and attend national/ international seminars, conferences 7 workshops. 20 applicants were given partial travel grant under this scheme.
- Young Scientist Fellowship - This scheme provided fellowship to young researchers of Punjab to undergo training in a specialized national laboratory in India for a maximum period of six months. 3 applicants were selected for the fellowship.
- Student Project Programme - This scheme provided incentives of Rs. 5000/- to final year M.E., MBBS, M.Tech students to prepare projects of local relevance. 26 projects were selected under this scheme.
- Adoption of Young Student Scientists - This scheme was for meritorious students of standard-VIII who were given one weak orientation to interact with eminent scientists and visit University, S&T Labs and Museums. 28 students were adopted under this scheme.
The above schemes were implemented during 1998-2000 for the benefit of the young scientists of the state.
