Science
Communication Centre (Vigyan Evam Vikas Sanchar Kendra)
In order to
facilitate the optimum utilization of resources developed under
science communication efforts and establish innovative practices
of science resource sharing between the society and other
scientific knowledge generation agencies in the country an
on-going pilot programme has been operated by NCSTC,DST,GoI. It
aims to establish a chain of dissemination nodal points (VVSK)
through out the country that can be operated with the help of
agencies like village panchayats, welfare wings of
govt./autonomous bodies/armed-paramilitary forces, science based
voluntary organizations that have deep community involvement and
have exclusive devotion to dissemination of knowledge. PSCST has
also established a Vigyan Evam Vikas Sanchar Kendra at MAS Senior
Secondary School, Jiwanwala (Faridkot) in the heart of rural
Punjab, which will cater to a cluster of villages for promoting
scientific literacy in the rural areas.
PSCST also hosted the 2nd Advisory Committee meeting of
VVSKs at Chandigarh in July 2011.
