7. Creating Awareness about Geo informatics in Rural Schools of Punjab:

This program was taken up in association with NRDMS, DST, GOI. Under this programme 10 schools each from districts of Amritsar, Ludhiana, Mansa & Patiala were selected. Each school was given one hand-held GPS unit to be used by the students of classes 7th, 8th & 9th, the students & teachers of the selected schools was trained to mark coordinates with the help of GPS units so that they could create the map of their village, school & other landmarks.  The project was successfully completed.  In the second phase capacity building in GIS is planned in ten schools of the State.
