3. Geo-chemical Survey of Bedrock Soil Water interaction of Environmental Epidemiological Industrial Significance Eastern Punjab

The major objectives of the project were to prepare elemental maps for monitoring of pollution of surface and ground water and its effect on human health.

Under this project, geochemistry of water/soils was investigated and about 500 samples of soil & water were collected and analysed. Areas having nitrate pollution were demarcated. Various other parameters like pH, TDS, salinity, sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, carbonate, bi-carbonate were also determined to know the suitability of water for drinking and irrigation purposes. Problematic areas were demarcated. Inter ionic relationship was also investigated under this project. The project was implemented by Panjab University, Chandigarh.
