4. Remote Sensing Applications in Crop Production Forecasting – Wheat

The objectives of this project were to develop and evaluate technology for wheat production forecasting at district level aggregations using Indian Remote Sensing (IRS) satellite data.

Under this project, crop acreage and crop production was estimated using Indian Remote Sensing Satellite data. After completion of the project, the report has been sent to the Agriculture Department, Punjab to make use of remote sensing technology for estimation of wheat acreage and production, forecast well in advance for the State of Punjab. The project was implemented by PAU-Ludhiana.
